What We Do...

The Canadain Ski Patrol System provides safety, first aid and rescue services to ski areas and to many other events all year. Volunteers are assigned a roster and 'patrol' at the ski areas as well as at other events year-round.
Terra Nova Zone also currently partners with Bicycle Newfoundland and Labrador to provide first aid for their Mountain Bike Race series and for the Tour de Shore, an international bicycle event that started in 2006.

To provide these services we offer a nationally recognized "first responder level" first aid course to our members.  Our first aid course is comprehensive, covering detailed aspects of providing an advanced first aid service including accident management, triage, oxygen therapy, CPR in conjunction with Automated External Defibrilator (as per the Canadian Heart and Stroke Foundation guidelines) as well as rescue and transport of injured persons to areas where second level medical aid can take over or ambulance transport is available.

Membership options and training is available to those who want to be certified in advanced first aid, yet who cannot volunteer to provide services. Please contact us for more information on membership options.
Training for First Aid starts in September of each year and runs through to December.

We also provide our patrollers with the skills to use our on-hill rescue toboggans in a variety of terrain and snow conditions as well as train for chair lift evacuation emergencies.
On hill training starts in January and extends through out the ski season.

We are not all work and no play... patrollers enjoy various social events, first aid competitions and we provide opportunities to members to participate in various athletic activities such as hiking, snow shoeing, mountain biking and climbing...

Of course, we also have alot of fun along the way...
